Not sad about the SLS...I know people like it, but it never grew on me.
Super sad about the FJ. But only as sad as I am everytime I see one and think "you could have been so much more"

My cowoker is stoked about the FJ going out of production. He babies his and hopes it will start appreciating soon. I told him yeah, maybe by 2053 it'll be worth more than you paid for it.
Now he is contemplating offroading it until it collapses into a pile.

Right now the market is already really really good for used FJ cruisers. Im not sure they are going to get more valuable for a while. We just went through a 60's series boom, which means we still have 80/100 series booms to hit first (I don't think there will be a 200 series boom)

I would have bought an FJ instead of a Tacoma, because that's more of what I really wanted, but I felt more claustrophobic in the FJ than I did a current gen Camaro. Otherwise, it was a great truck.
Hopefully Toyota replaces the FJ in a few years with another one, but with a solid axle up front. Here's why:

Exactly, the smart move here is to modify it for offroading. When it gets to be valuable those period correct mods will make it worth more to some people and help it stand out in the market.

I disagree, most people looking for the collectable cruisers like as stock as possible to built to taste. At least thats seems to be the case with 40's, 55's and 60's. Just my 2 cents though.

My cousin bought an FJ, and I was legitimately shocked at how tiny it is inside. Didn't make sense that a beefy SUV would be more cramped than my Porsche.

Not too sad about the FJ, never blossomed like it could have. Offroaded with a couple and wasn't impressed (not that much keeps up with a bunch of Jeeps). They look halfway decent kitted out overland style, but never would have been in my top choices for a car.
